Our Mission

PawCalc was created to help pet owners make informed decisions about their pets' nutrition, health, and well-being. We believe that every pet deserves optimal care, and that starts with understanding their unique needs.

Our calculators are based on veterinary science and established nutritional guidelines, providing you with reliable estimates and recommendations. While our tools are educational and informative, they should never replace professional veterinary advice.

🔬 Our Methodology

All our calculators are built on scientifically validated formulas and guidelines from veterinary nutrition experts:

🐕 Dog Age Calculator

Based on the 2019 AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) guidelines and research from the University of California San Diego. Accounts for breed size, as smaller dogs age differently than larger breeds.

🐱 Cat Age Calculator

Uses the International Cat Care aging guidelines and AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners) life stage definitions. Cats age more uniformly than dogs regardless of size.

📊 Calorie Calculators

Utilizes the Resting Energy Requirement (RER) formula: RER = 70 × (weight in kg)^0.75, combined with activity factors from the National Research Council's Nutrient Requirements of Dogs and Cats.

🍖 Food Calculators

Combines RER calculations with activity and body condition factors to determine Daily Energy Requirements (DER), then converts to food portions based on calorie density.

📈 Puppy Weight Predictor

Uses breed-specific growth curves and established weight prediction formulas based on current age and weight. Accuracy varies by breed and individual genetics.

🕐 Feeding Schedules

Based on veterinary recommendations for age-appropriate meal frequency and calorie distribution to support healthy growth and digestion.
